Weeks 15-16 It's a Wrap!
As you prepare your monologues and materials for the final, think about your journey in the course and all that you have accomplished.
You all gave so much to one another in class. Reflect upon what you learned from the course and your
fellow students. I hope that your final performance is everything
you want it to be. I expect them to be wonderful.
Luck is when opportunity meets preparation so, prepare! Break a leg- NHP

I can't believe it's already the end of the semester! This class has been so helpful and rewarding to me. I learned first hand how to audition for casting agents, got to see what it's like to actually be a casting director, signed with an agency, and so much more. Thank you Nicole for opening the doors to a whole other world to me! Someday when I win my Oscar, you will be the first person I thank ;) Okay that was kind of a joke, I need to work on overcoming my fear of monologues first before I focus on the Oscar. But really, I have loved getting to see the work of my fellow classmates and also getting to work with them outside of class! I've worked with Gil on the set of a short film, Claire was my director for the Vagina Monologues, Alex for Sorry Wrong Number, and the list goes on. Everyone has been absolutely amazing and we have all improved tremendously. I know that on Thursday I will walk into that room with more confidence than I have ever had before and give it my best. Even if I fall short of other people's performances, I will know that I did my best, and had fun doing it! Thank you for a great semester everyone and best of luck to all you who are graduating and pursuing a full time career in acting!!
ReplyDeleteWow, there's another blog?! I honestly think I have grown during this class. I am far more comfortable with monologues, if not completely confident. I've never had a huge problem with swagger when asked to cold read, but in this class I'm more conscious that a good cold read isn't a substitute for good acting. I have started breaking down the script for important pieces and a beginning, middle, end. I've become determined not to be overshadowed or stepped on in an audition. Before it never occurred to me to have a song ready regardless of whether I expected to sing one; now I've compiled a list of songs in several genres just in case. I auditioned more this semester than probably any other semester. The other day, I pulled myself out from under a terrible audition partner with some of the techniques I learned. I've gained confidence that I have a solid resume, headshots, and skills. I encountered some setbacks, but I also made some money and scored some professional work. It's just silly to doubt myself.
